I am particularly pleased to announce that my short story, The Stone Heart will be released in print just in time for Valentine’s Day. The Stone Heart is included in Northern Heat, a wonderful collection of short stories of erotica, erotic romance and spicy romance written by Canadians and edited by the award-winning erotic romance author Opal Carew.
Canadians are hot and we’ve always known it. Hey, with our cold winters we have to know how to keep warm!
For the most part, Canadian romance authors have quietly and consistently written for the global market. Largely ignored by the Canadian literary establishment we have, to a one, shown dogged determination and unique flexibility to pursue publishing. Many of us have written for years without our neighbours ever hearing about us. Many times, we’ve published books that never appeared on Canadian bookstore shelves, denying us the singular pleasure of seeing the tangible result of our work.
One of my first print releases that I ever saw on a bookstore shelf was in a Barnes & Noble in Hawaii. I took pictures: the book on the shelf, the bookstore clerk, me holding the book, me holding the book with the clerk. Can we say giddy?
I know many Canadian romance authors have similar stories! With luck, we may hear some of those stories this week.
Northern Heat is a print-only collection and will be available at Chapters, Indigo and several other brick-and-mortar stores on February 14. I hope you stop by your local store and pick up a copy! If you don’t see it, please ask for Northern Heat with this number: ISBN 10: 1-55082-394-9 or ISBN 13: 978-1-55082-394-3
February is one of those months: cold, windy, bleak, the kind of month that makes snowbirds of a lot of Canucks, but this year, you don’t have to travel anywhere to feel the warmth, the desire of a heated interlude. Because you’ll find whatever you fancy between the pages of Northern Heat.
