Bonnie, I am so excited to be included in this anthology! It is an honour to share pages with all these wonderful Canadian authors of erotic romance and erotica. My contribution is a 7000 word excerpt from A LITTLE WILD, my single title erotic romance from Samhain Publishing, which I have never seen in a Canadian bookstore, although it is in places like Books-a-Million and Powells in the States. The excerpt features the lead-up scene to a love scene, a very long first love scene between my heroine and hero, and an aftermath scene. This love scene is an important turning point in the developing romance between two characters who think they are only in it for the sex. They’re in for a surprise!

I’ve published 3 novellas in trade paperback anthologies in the States as well, but in Canada my books have traditionally only been available on the Internet. Years ago, I had a book out under a pen name that was in a local bookstore, but only because I had taken copies there to place on consignment. So catching sight of NORTHERN HEAT will be a real treat for me, like it will for many of us. I’m not sure that many Canadian readers realize how many Canadian authors publish in the U.S., and, even if their books are with major U.S. publishers, because of distribution factors we might never see them on Canadian shelves. And this is not by choice. We have no control over the distribution. Quarry Press will introduce our country’s readers to our writing — and that’s plenty exciting. Thanks for posting about the antho.

We both know the hard work involved in publishing, Kate. We both worked for a long time before we saw successes with our stories. I’m very excited to be on the shelves in a book with you.

We never could have believed this would happen all those years ago, when we met at a writers’ conference in a line up to pitch our ideas. The publishing world is a small one!

    Hi Bonnie!

Wonderful post. And thanks for inviting me to comment. 🙂

I am so thrilled to be in this anthology with you and the other lovely Canadian authors. I am born and raised in Oshawa Ontario and although I now live near Minden (2 hours north of Oshawa) I visit Oshawa all the time to see my folks and friends.

I’m also eager so see our book appear on Canadian bookstore shelves as I have been writing for US and England publishers since 2000 and have tons of stories out there, but not on Canadian shelves..until now. Squeeeeeing!

My story in the Northern Heat anthology is “Menage” and here’s a sneak peek for readers who may be interested:

Sandwiched between constant deadlines, erotic romance author, Claire Miller, enjoys an occasional unwind at The Key Club, a local hangout for swingers. When she picks the ménage key, Claire is paired with a couple of hot sex-on-a-stick hunks who’ll make her naughtiest dreams come true.

    Hugs!

    jan

Welcome Jan, and I’m just as thrilled! It’s exciting and rewarding to have this chance to showcase our work right here at home.

And I love the set up for your story: An erotic romance author as heroine? Too funny!

This book sounds like a lot of fun! And so do the authors. You can bet I’ll be in my local Chapters looking for Northern Heat early in February.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed. It’s about time we warmed up the Great White North–and no one can do that better than romance writers. 🙂

It’s a pleasure to ‘meet’ some of the other authors in the anthology. Sincere congratulations; I hope Northern Heat burns a mile wide trail in the snow! I’ll definitely be picking up a copy!

I was thrilled when I was asked to participate in this anthology. What a great way to showcase Canadian authors and the work we’ve been doing! I live in Bedford Nova Scotia, and I’m very eager to see the book on the shelves at my local Chapters!

My story is called Holiday Spirit. It’s a fun, sexy, lighthearted romp and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

    Here’s the blurb:

What’s a girl to do when she finds herself held captive inside a bedroom – with the man she’s been lusting after for months – by a voyeuristic spirit on Christmas Eve?

Give it what it wants, of course.

Elly Watson, Paranormal Task Force Investigator faces her most challenging and erotic assignment yet, and if she wants to free herself before Christmas morning, then she has no choice but to fulfill the spirit’s wild and wicked fetishes – even if that means engaging in a fun holiday romp with her sexy co-worker, over and over again, if need be.

Hi Bonnie! Thanks for posting about our upcoming anthology.

I’m another contributor to Northern Heat, and delighted to be in this terrific antho. I’m only sorry it won’t be available in digital format – but maybe if it proves popular in print, they’ll also issue an e-book edition. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, I can’t wait to get my hands on a real live copy.

My story in the antho is written under my pen name Savanna Fox, and I also write as Susan Fox and Susan Lyons. I’m published by Kensington, Berkley, and Harlequin Spice Briefs. Publishers Weekly has called my work “emotionally compelling, sexy contemporary romance.” I’m a resident of both Victoria and Vancouver, BC. Though I have degrees in law and psychology, I’d far rather be writing fiction than living in the “real world” – and so that’s what I do.

Actually, I have something in common with the heroine in my Northern Heat story, which is titled “A Forever Cowboy” (and was first published by Freya’s Bower in a Dreams and Desires charity anthology). She, too, decides to take a holiday from her real world.

City-girl Carly has a secret craving that just won’t leave her alone: to gallop a lovely horse across fields of green, beside a handsome cowboy. When she books a holiday at Sundance Ranch and meets the wrangler, Riley, can her Jimmy Choos find a forever home beside his cowboy boots?

I hope readers will look for Northern Heat, come Valentine’s Day. And hey, if you’re hinting about the perfect romantic gift you’d like to receive, put this book on your list! Tell your sweetie that he’s likely to reap the benefits when you enjoy a little spicy Northern Heat.

Hey guys! Like y’all I was thrilled to be invited to be part of this anthology. I can’t wait to see it in stores, and get it in my greedy little hands. I just know that it’s gonna be hot, hot, hot!

(PS: My story is titled Abduction, a short, sci-fi that turns alien abduction into something Fun and hot!

Thanks for doing this terrific blog post about Northern Heat, Bonnie!

I’m truly honoured and thrilled to be included with all of the talented authors in this anthology. And like others have mentioned, I can’t wait to actually see the book in a local bookstore. You’d better believe I’ll be whipping out the camera when I do. LOL

My story, Trick or Treat, is a hot contemporary romance based on characters from my next book, Back For You. It’s a fun and sexy glimpse into how these two characters originally met ten years previous to where the book starts. =)

    The blurb:

A Halloween costume party turns into something much more intimate when a woman tricks the man of her dreams, and turns a closet interlude into a sexy treat.

Anara, great idea to offer a prequel! A lot of readers like to live that moment in a reunion story.
I love reunions…the road not taken, the what ifs of a first love lost…all the things that might have been if circumstances had been different.

We have such a great variety in Northern Heat!

Hi, Bonnie! Like all the others, I was thrilled to be invited to be part of an anthology with such established authors. Jan, we’re going to have to get together next time you’re down this way!

I’m excited to have a book on the Canadian bookstore shelves. Although my books from Samhain Publishing are available in print, they aren’t carried by the local big box book stores up here. Of course my digital books from both Samhain Publishing and Harlequin’s digital first Carina Press are available through the digital providers, but still, it’s going to be exciting to be able to tell people they can go into a local store to buy my story in Northern Heat.

My story is an original story written just for the anthology called Unashamed – A game of truth or dare results in a weekend of fantasy fulfillment for a woman who asks her husband for a single night where she can be the object of attention between him and another man. A man she’d never see, never hear, but would give her a night of pleasure never to be forgotten.

Leah, thanks so much for stopping by. Another super idea, I’d say! Keeping the marriage heat sparking is something people want to know about.

I am jealous that Opal has already read everything!
